People tell me that i’m extremely funny and i think that i could write great stand up material. How do i find a young comedian that needs jokes?

Go to a pub or club where they have stand-up comics. Talk to the comics after the show…They are always looking for new material. Take some of your work with you to show them…..make sure it’s new and good, remember these comics are working professionals they will know a lot of jokes. Choose the youngest and newest comic…you might have a better chance as the older one’s may already have writers.

Usually there is a comedy night at some of the night clubs. Where people can do their thing on stage in front of a crowd of drunks(or close to it) Gives you to chance to try out your schtick.

Do they copy other comedian’s and change it to make it thier own, or do they invent the material altogether ? I discoverd that when I speak out in front of people I can make them laugh with my dry humor, but I have never tried stand up before, so is it really hard to find funny , new material ? I heard that Dane Cook said he would rather die than start stand up again.

A lot of stand up comedy is just observational humor. The beauty and art of the stand-up comedian is to take mundane every day things that most people can relate to, and make it funny. Ex: Dane Cook’s bit about going through the drive thru.
